Defeating That Oily Skin

You may be wondering what causes oily skin! There is a wide variety of reasons you may have oily skin. Just to name a few there is heredity that could be holding your skin back from being the best that it can be. Your daily diet could be the cause of it as well. If you eat a lot of fatty foods that are deep fried or cheesy, this could be your main reason of having oily skin. Hormone levels, birth control pills, pregnancy, cosmetics, or even the humidity in the air could all be leading causes of your oily skin. If you can narrow down what may be causing your oily skin then you are already ahead of the game. If not, then finding the right type of cleansers and treatments is the next best thing.

Oily skin is usually thick and dull looking along with being very shiny. Just about everyone who has oily skin has pimples or other types of blemishes that they aren’t happy with. Blackheads are a major problem with oily skin. The only up side of having oily skin is that it ages at a much slower rate than other skin types, so its not all bad.

Caring For Your Oily Skin

There are many ways to care for your oily skin. For oily skin you should cleanse it with a mild soap or a cleanser that is designed to prevent the pores of your skin to get clogged. Never use a harsh cleanser on your face. This could strip all of the oil from your skin causing another problem such as dry skin. You should also steer clear of cleansers that leave your skin feeling dehydrated and tight. Using hot water, not scalding, but not lukewarm or cold either is the best to use on your skin when washing it.

The Mask and Oily Skin

When choosing a mask to use on your face and you have oily skin, the best type would be a mud or clay mask. These types of masks tend to soak up some of the oil leaving your skin with a healthy complexion. You should try to use a clarifying mask at least once or twice a week. This will help in the battle against the oily skin your suffer with day in and day out.

Moisturizing Oily Skin

When you’re adding moisturizers to your skin, you should only use the ones that are designed for oily skin. These moisturizers are usually oil free and they help to leave a shine free complexion. Don’t wash your skin too much. Two to three times a day should be sufficient. Washing it more can cause for more oil to be produced and defeat the whole purpose of what you’re doing to prevent your skin from being so oily.

Naturally Treating Oily Skin

There are also a few natural skin care treatments you can experiment with if you don’t want to purchase items that may not work. For example, mixing a half teaspoon of lime juice and cucumber juice about thirty minutes before taking a bath can help absorb some of the oil on your skin.

If your makeup seems to be patchy in some areas and not in others, you can apply a small amount of cucumber juice to those parts then completely dry. Once you’ve dried your face, apply makeup and it should look more even and smooth instead of patchy.

Diet and Oily Skin

There are things you should eat when you have oily skin as well as things your should not eat. The number one thing that you should be taking in is water. Eight or more glasses a day for a healthy body as well as healthy skin.

Eating a diet rich in protein and plenty of green vegetables is a great start to healing up your oily skin. Don’t forget the fresh fruits as well. Fruit has natural sugar which the body can use as well as having it help your skin.

The things you shouldn’t eat are a lot of sugar, chocolate, soft drinks, alcohol, and greasy foods. These all lead to oily and unhealthy skin.
