Makeup Brushes – The Real Deal

Some women may see makeup brushes as just some stick with pieces of hair attached on its end. But in reality, this type of brushes are more than just tools necessary for putting makeup on your face. A makeup brush can be likened to a painter’s brush which an artist uses to bring his paintings and masterpieces into life. Makeup brushes are the tools in which women can proceed on to paint a naturally beautiful canvas on their face. This is the main reason why buying a makeup brush must be well-thought of and done with care.

There are lots of things which should actually be involved when you choose among different types of makeup brushes. It’s not just about buying one and it also does not guarantee that the most expensive is also the best there is out there. Also, it does not necessarily guarantee that once you get a brush which feels nice to touch then it will ultimately be the best as it won’t harm your facial skin. Well, it might be nice to touch but would it last enough for the amount of money you’ve actually spent in buying it? There are lots of questions and details which you must consider. Buying a makeup brush is not that much of a piece of cake.

The first thing you need to consider when buying makeup brushes is durability. It is best to buy a brush which you think will last you a good six months to one year. You don’t really have to buy a brush tough enough to last you a decade or so. Remember that it is still recommended that you change your makeup tools after a year or even six months after usage. Hygiene practices are also essential when it comes to makeup since you put these things on your face and they can also accumulate bacteria once they’re out in the open. Another tip you can consider is to buy a makeup brush which is hand-made. Hand-made brushes also have hand-made hair tips and these are the only ones which can be preserved for over long periods of time as compared to machine-generated counterparts.

Apart from over-all durability, you also need to familiarize yourself with the makeup brush anatomy. Yes, a makeup brush is also divided into different parts which you will find very interesting as you learn how these parts actually complement each other. These three major divisions are the hair (the one you use to gather makeup), the handle, and the ferrule ( the metal part found in between the hair and the handle which actually holds all the hair within a tight bundle).

And of course, you should also equip yourself with proper knowledge about the hair found at the tip of each makeup brush. This is the main reason why you buy it in the first place. Even this part is further broken down into three important categories. It is necessary to learn about how different these categories are from each other because you need to pair your skin with each type and find the best one which you think will suit you.

1.    Natural Hair – Makeup experts say that this is the best type of hair which is attached on the makeup brush’s end. According to them, this type of hair can easily apply make up on the face with much as compared with the other types. They also say that this particular type can hold powdered makeup effectively so it’s easier to control how much you have actually placed on your face already. Also, natural hair becomes softer with continued use which is why they are highly recommended when applying face powder, foundation, and even eye shadow.

2.    Synthetic Hair – This type is made out of taklon or nylon. The main advantage of this type is that they are usually sold at more inexpensive prices. However, they cannot hold powdered makeup as efficiently as natural hair can. Also, they can become stiffer once you use them more and more.
