Applying Concealer and Its Basics

When you need to hide all those unwanted signs of a not-to-smooth face, you would typically find yourself turning on to concealer to seek help. As its name implies, a concealers duty is to hide away those imperfect things which can be found on your face. Before applying makeup, applying concealer is very important because it must be blended right on to the skin or the spot which has nothing else on it but the blemish or the imperfection. Concealers are not limited to a single type of color, which is why blending will eventually become crucial.

There are different types of skin tone which every concealer adapts. This is because concealers are being used for different purposes. Usually, they are being used to hide blemishes such as pimples and any other skin pigmentations. If there is also evident skin discoloration, applying concealer can already correct this one. And also, there are temporary discolorations like dark circles beneath the eyes and even eye bags which can also be hidden through the use of a concealer.

When it comes to choosing the right concealer, these essentials must always be followed. If you have a fair to dark skin complexion, you should choose a concealer which has a yellowish tone. You should not opt for a concealer tone which is white and is also considerably lighter than your skin complexion by almost half of your original shade. The best thing to go about it is to find a color which completely matches the current color of you skin. You should care about strictly following this because this can affect the way your makeup will look like once you start applying other colors on your face. Moreover, your concealer must also be lighter by a shade than the foundation which you will be eventually using. Choose also which type of concealer do you think you can handle applying on your face. Concealers also come in different forms such as creams, sticks, pots, compacts, and even tubes.

Applying concealer need not be that tricky if you remember the following steps:
First, you should remember the purpose of applying the concealer. This would help set the limits when it comes to how much you should put and what shades you should choose. If you would also use a concealer, you cannot skip on using a foundation just the same. This would help blend the colors more effectively on your skin to give it a more natural-looking finish. As you begin applying concealer, make sure that you use a small brush with a fine tip so that you can apply it more accurately on the targeted area.

When you begin to apply the concealer on the area, you shouldn’t brush it as if you were painting a canvas. On the other hand, you should only apply it by gently tapping the area with your brush for a more controlled application. If you choose to rub the concealer instead, it might just give you more problems as it causes some redness and swelling or even bruising if you have sensitive skin. Applying concealer does take time so you should care enough to be patient and blend it evenly.

When it comes to applying the concealer on problem areas, it is usually not that tricky if the problem is caused by pimples or light acne on the face. But it the problem would be the dark circles beneath the eye, this is where the application of concealer can become quite tricky. Before you apply in beneath the eye you should pat the area first with some light eye cream so that it will get moisturized. It is best to use the ring finger to do this step because this particular area is sensitive and the ring finger contains the lesser force of all the fingers in our hand. So you can be sure that even if you need to rub the concealer or the eye cream a bit, your skin would not be subject for tear or any other dangerous motions.
