| Shampooing and drying: How and When? |
|
What kind of shampoo do I need? Does it depend on my hair type? Can I dry my hair every day with a blow dryer? What other ways should I dry my hair? These were all questions that became vitally important and the young age of thirteen. I was moving up in the world! These questions needed answers!
The first research was on shampoo usage in my category of shampooing and drying hair.
Each type of hair requires a certain kind of shampoo.
Shampoos for people with coarse, curly hair are generally moisturizing, creamy types. This is because the oil from the sebum glands at the follicle of the hair has a harder time traveling down this type of hair than it does in straight, smooth hair. As for drying hair with a blow dyer, people with this type of hair are generally discouraged from the regular use of a blow dryer because the hair is already dryer than best for the use of a blow dryer, which with further dehydrate the hair, making it frizzy and displeasing.
A tip in shampooing and drying for people with oily, fine, or limp hair, the best shampoos are generally clear shampoos, which are better as clearing away the oil from the scalp and hair. A mild shampoo is best used, but hair should be washed once or more times a day, depending on the activities of the person and the humidity and heat of their environment. One of the most important ingredients for fine haired people is called panthenol. This chemical allegedly makes the hair thicker, which will help greatly to keep the oily look so often found in fine hair nonexistent. It is also recommended that people with oily hair use talcum powder in between washings. This with soak up the oil in the hair but also add body, which is usually lacking in oily or fine hair, to the hair as well. A spray in conditioner (if any at all if used) is recommended because they are lighter and will not weigh down the hair as much as a regular conditioner may. As for drying, this type of hair can be dried easily because it already contains excess oils but the ends can become dry if a blow dryer is used too often and hair may be hard to style, preferring to lay flat.
For shampooing and drying processed hair, the key is to use a moisturizing conditioner. It is recommended that people with processed hair wash their hair every other day with shampoo made for normal hair, concentrating on making sure that the scalp is clean. Conditioner can then be applied, but not the scalp. It should be applied from the middle of the hair to the ends too keep from causing the scalp to become oily. For colored hair, the shampoos made for this condition of hair is best or the use of a gentle baby cleanser may be used if the expensive, professional colored shampoos are not desired. For permed or relaxed hair, it is recommended that any kind of moisturizing shampoo be used, but must only be applied to the roots, rubbing in quickly before applying a quick burst of water. While the water is running down the hair, it is best to massage the hair to get all dirt and shampoo residue out. Be sure that all reside of the shampoo is rinsed from the hair. As for drying, processed hair is already dry, and so it is not recommended that it be dried consistently or for long periods of time. Moisture is the key.
In the shampooing and drying of dry and/or damaged hair, it is best to aim for a moisturizing shampoo. Clear shampoos are to be avoided, as these are better used for oily hair, and creamy shampoos which will detangle, moisturize, and reduce the static of the hair are recommended highly. It is not highly recommended that dry or damaged hair be dried at all, especially not often. Hair dryers and other such styling tools will often dry even oily hair out and so can be very detrimental to the health of dry hair.
So now you, and I, know! There’s a way for shampooing and drying each kind of hair to keep it healthy and attractive! |
