Only the Herbal Hair Care will do!

I sighed, staring at my best friend. She had been complaining about how dry her hair was and how unhealthy it looked. I had finally told her that maybe she should obtain some shampoo and conditioner that would help her hair to be healthier but she had wrinkled her nose at me.

“You know I only use herbal hair care things!” she said, pointing to the herbal soap on her counter. I rolled my eyes, sighing.

“I forgot. Well, let’s find some stuff then,” I had said and she had grinned.

We began our research on the internet and found some interesting things.

“Sage,” Emily, my best friend, said softly, squinting at the screen. I read what it said for sage. This herb was said to help prevent dandruff, oily hair, and could help to color her hair.

The next herb that we found was Rosemary, which just happened to be one of my favorites. I pointed to it and we both read. This herb would help stop dandruff and help to prevent hair loss as well. “Yeah, you might need that. You being so old,” I said, laughing and she made a face.

“Shush, you!” she said and we both turned back to the computer.

Next was chamomile. This herb was guaranteed to be a superb conditioner for dry hair and if used to rinse after using shampoo, would give the hair extra shine and bring out the natural highlights of blondes. It was said to also help prevent hair fall, tangling, and split ends.

We then came upon an herb that I’d never heard of before: burdock. Apparently, burdock oil or Bur oil, helped to treat scalp problems. It would stop dandruff, restore shine, and strengthen hair as well as reversing thinning hair.

“This is a recurring theme,” I laughed and Emily chuckled, pushing me out of my chair while I laughed.

Next was Aloe Vera. Now, I knew aloe was good for sunburns, but never for hair. It could help people to stop hair loss. Still something that Emily didn’t need just yet… or for a very long time.

Arnica, another herb I had never heard of, was next. This also stimulated hair growth and, once more, Emily and I moved on quickly. Unless she wanted to grow her hair longer more quickly, we did not need to worry about those types of herbs.

Next we found another cure for dandruff, which I had to admit Emily did have. Tea tree was said to be a great antifungal that would eliminate dandruff and other scalp infections without much difficulty.

Lastly was witch hazel, which could be used to stimulate blood flow, which would in turn stimulate hair growth, but could also be used as a deep cleanser of the scalp. It was apparently good at getting off oil and dirt from the skin so we wrote it down on our list of herbs that we were going to buy.

We then found that emu and jojoba oil was a great cure for dry hair if applied so we wrote that down as well. Of course, we would be getting it in the pure oil form, but it was also available in various shampoos (but they weren’t herbal enough for Emily).

Another interesting herbal hair care remedy we found for “stressed looking” hair was nettles. It said that we should infuse nettles and then drink the tea. This would be a wonderful tonic and detoxification tool and could also be used to rinse the scalp.

Another herbal hair care remedy for dry and frizzy hair was an infusion of elderflower or parsley. These would calm the frizz of hair and restore moisture to the hair follicles.

After doing so much research, we finally made our way to the store and bought all of our listed herbal care herbs (not including the ones that were specifically for hair loss, of course!) and Emily used them for the next few months. I was amazed when I saw that it really did work! Soon enough, she had the hair of a celebrity and she hadn’t even had to go to a salon to get it!
