The typical cure for head lice though still is shampoo that contain creams that damage head lice, but the drawback to these is they don\'t kill all the nits. If these nits live than more head lice surely will follow which just makes the problem worse. These shampoos also include a nit comb which will help you pick them out of your hair. Finding these nits are tough because they stick to the hair shaft and are very hard to detect.
The FDA has to approve all shampoos that are made for head lice removal so this gives parents some security. The biggest worries to parents about these shampoos is the damage these chemicals can do to the scalp. Many times these shampoo treatments are not approved by the FDA so that is always a concern.
Finding Alternative Cure
Probably the hardest part is finding alternative cure for head lice. Their are many different things that are making the rounds and caution should be used when trying these things. Their are several though that has worked very well. One of those is using running alcohol and a shower cap. After washing your hair with rubbing alcohol wear a shower cap for around 6 hours and then re wash your hair. Check for nits as they still maybe some left. Repeat this in a couple of weeks to make sure the head lice is totally gone.
Another alternative cure for head lice is salad dressing on your hair and wearing a shower cap for around 8 hours. After eight hours wash your hair and check for nits. The salad dressing contains an oil which will help collect the nits and wash them away. Most oily treatments are a good choice as they help remove the nits and head lice all together.
Tips To Keep You Head Lice Free
Sharing items such as blankets and hats are not a very good idea. Don\'t share things such as brushes either as if someone has head lice it can be transferred very easily to someone else. This is why you must be very careful when it comes to sharing items. Getting rid of head lice is hard to get rid of. If you do happen to find it. Washing blankets and hats will help kill the head lice so it\'s much harder to spread. People sometimes forget about this and they are defeating their purpose if they don\'t implement this step.
Check your children\'s hair often. Kids who go to school that they come in contact with could have it and you would never know. The first time you see it take care of it. Treat all the kids in your house as it spreads very quickly and that is something you don\'t want. Getting kids to sit still is hard as kids hate you messing with their hair.the key to keeping head lice out of your life is keeping from getting it in the first place. The more prevention that you put in place the better shot you have of stopping it. |
