Head Lice Treatments

In today\'s world many different head lice treatments are available from shampoos to creams and even some home remedies that people say work very well. Most treatments need to be done more than once for them to be effective. People who just use them one time find out they still have head lice and have to start the process all over. This is why reading the directions on these head lice treatments are so very important. Following the instructions will save you a lot of headaches down the road that\'s for sure.

Shampoos And Creams

Shampoos and creams are the most used treatment for head lice. Head lice usually have around a 30 day life cycle which means once they die more eggs are laid and the process starts all over again. These feminine can lay down as many as 200 eggs so in a short time your head can be overrun with head lice. The key to using shampoos and creams is to use them more than once. Most manufacturers will tell you to repeat the step in a week or so and than in another two weeks, this is to kill the eggs that are their that have hatched and kill any remaining head lice that you may have missed. Even though you will get a fine tooth comb with your shampoo or cream usually it\'s no guarantee that you will get all the nits out.

If only one nit is left they can grow and produce even more and the cycle will start all over again. If this happens the problem just gets worse and you must start from the beginning. Shampoos and creams though are the most widely used. Consult your doctor or health care provider on the best ones on the market right now as they are always changing.

Lindane- Use With Caution

Lindane is another  head lice treatments that you can use, but this one must be used with caution. It\'s a insecticide that is very strong and contains some very strong chemicals which if not properly used can cause damage. Lindane is safe to use if not left in the hair for prolonged time. The strength of it to kill head lice makes it one of the more popular choices even though it does have some dangers.

Malathion Another Good Chemical

Malathion is another form of a insecticide that has been proven to work well against lice and nits. You must leave it in your hair for 8-10 hours than you can clean it out. This long wait is seen as a way to kill the nits and lice. More and more people are using stringer chemicals as the shampoos many times are proving ineffective in getting the job done.

The Hand Another Treatment Option

Head lice treatments vary greatly, but one method won\'t cost you anything but time. It\'s using your hand to go through your hair and remove the nits. This method can be used by using olive oil on a fine tooth brush. The olive oil is slick and coats the hair strand and make the nits and head lice slide of the hair. This is why many times people will wash their hair with olive oil if they know they have head lice. Any oily film on your hair is great at removing the nits and head lice. Many of these methods using oil are home remedies that have found to be great ways of getting rid of head lice. Just like any other method though it must be done more than one time or the success rate will be very small.

With so many head lice treatments out their which one is right for you. This is a good question and the answer could be whichever one works best for you. Everyone is different and some of these treatments work better for some than others. You will have to check them out to be sure.
