Hair Styles can make a bold statement about the person you are. Contributing factors to your hair styles include hair color (especially if your hair is dyed), length of hair and the arrangement of your hair (like in a ponytail, for example). You hair style makes an immediate impression on the people around you, because different hairstyles can indicate certain traits of your personality, and influence another\'s first impression of you. How do you perceive a female with a purple Mohawk as opposed to a female with straight brunette hair? Your hair style can tell a great deal about you before you ever open your mouth or perform an action. It is important to have the hair style that accurately describes who you are, or exudes the image you want to covey to the world around you.
Hair styles often change with fashion trends, which dictate what is a currently accepted hair style, an outdated hair style or any number of other variables relating to fashion. You can make bold statements with your hair by adopting an unconventional style or color. Hair styles differ from men to women, as longer hair is generally considered more feminine and short hair masculine (but keep in mind there are exceptions to every rule).
You can use your hair to accentuate the best features of yourself. A different hairstyle can draw attention to features like your eyes, the shape of your face, your lips or even your shoulders. Hair styles are a part of your personal fashion, like the clothes you wear or the jewelry you adorn. Your hair can be turned into a powerful accessory to your fashion statement, and enhance your overall appearance or beauty.
The best part about hair styles is that you can easily change it to suit changing moods, trends or events. For instance while working out, many women will put their hair in a ponytail. Then later the same day, if they have a formal engagement they can choose a more involved and elegant style to suit the occasion, and then further more can choose a third, completely different arrangement to go out to a social event that evening. Also, almost nothing is permanent with hair styles. Because hair grows at a deceptively fast rate (it is generally accepted that hair grows about half an inch a month) it is possible to have an infinite amount of looks or styles.
To choose a good hair style, it is important to recognize the type of hair you have. The general types are fine, coarse, straight or curly. Of course hair can be a combination of these things. To be able to choose the best style that suits your hair you must know the strengths and weaknesses of each of these categories. Fine hair is usually very soft to the touch, but has little volume or body. It may benefit a person with fine hair to add an illusion of extra thickness and body to it. Coarse hair can be harder to manage than fine hair, and is important in framing the face. Straight hair tends to give off appealing shine, and can usually be easily curled or manipulated. Curly hair can be straightened, or the size and amount of curls can be changed with methods such as rollers.
It is also quite easy to change the color of your hair. Various bleaches and dyes can be used to achieve just the right coloring effect that an individual may be striving for. These processes however can be tough on the hair and should usually be done by a trained professional to help minimize the damage that can be caused, and to make sure a quality result is achieved. Bleaching the hair, in particular, can be very harmful to the hair as it contains harsh chemicals that are usually left in the hair for extended periods, damaging the cuticle and drying the hair. Dry hair leads to increased breakage and split end, and undermines hair\'s natural strength, and shine. |
