Hair Loss Medication

There are many hair loss medication on the market today some good and some bad. many times these are tested and given approval only not to work the way they say they would. Other times though they show great promise and do well at treating hair loss. The main thing to remember with hair loss medication is everyone is different and what works for you maynot for the next person. In other words not every product is for everybody.

The medications that are out their right now are used to help regrow hair on your scalp. Most of these are in cream form, but some do come in the pill for. They try and stimulate hair growth by reaching through your scalp and get hair follicles to regrow. Sometimes this works sometimes it doesn\'t. It\'s just how it is. Medications have a varying degree of effectiveness depending on the person taking it. Some will have immediate success while others it could take awhile.

Medications For Hair Loss

Just like any type of medicine out their always follow the directions on the package and don\'t abuse them. Only use as directed. The first one we are going to look at is Finasteride. This is a medicine that is available in a pill form and is called Propecia. It\'s prescribed for hair loss by most health care providers. It has been shown not to be effective in women so women shouldn\'t take it. This pill though after four months of use has shown great promise.

Minoxidil is one of the more popular non prescription medicines that is out on the market today. You use this twice daily and is available over the counter, It does have around 5 percent rogaine in it which has been proven effective in regrowing hair. People should always consult a doctor though for taking this.Hair loss medication is always changing so beware of that.

Corticosteroid creams and ointments are very effective to increase new hair on the scalp. Some of these can be taken by the mouth and seem to work well. Others sometimes have these injected right into the scalp. These have been shown to grow hair very well.

Contact Immunotherapy is a very good therapy for alopecia areata which is a form of hair loss. This therapy is used in a paint form and put on the scalp once a week and as also shown great effectiveness in growing new  hair on the scalp.

Last but sure not least is anthralin which is a cream that can be put on the scalp everyday and has shown some success, but more works needs to be done on this one to see if it has long term results. Sometimes combinations of these medicines are used so that is something you should look into.

Things To Remember

Hair loss medication comes in a variety of ways anymore. From pill to cream and even sometimes injections. Finding the right combination is usually the key. Your doctor will play a giant role in which works best for you. The more information that you give him or her the better chance you will have for success. People sometimes think the smallest details aren\'t important and that just isn\'t true. One change you made in your life could effect your hair loss so always remember that when dealing with your doctor.

The medications except a few are doctor prescribed. You should never stop or start using medication without a doctor or pharmacists approval. The main reason is you could have an adverse effect and that is something that we don\'t want to happen. These medications are strong and used the wrong way could be deadly so always follow the label warnings and directions. If you follow the instruction than you should have no problems at. Hair loss is something that many of us face everyday and we are always in a hurry to get it back and sometimes we don\'t follow simple instructions.
