Vintage prom dress

Getting the right dress made for the prom requires a lot of effort on your part. You give extra attention to detail and concentrate a great deal on the cuts and stitches. All this because the prom is a special event and every girl wants to look stunning on that occasion. Hours of discussion over the phone or over a coffee with your girl friends on choosing the right vintage prom dress. Some frustrating moments when these discussions lead you no where and in some cases, you end up feeling more confused and lost. These are some snapshots of the pre prom preparation. To ease the process of preparing for the special day so that nothing goes wrong, we write this article covering all the major aspects of prom prep.

Choosing the dress

Sigh! This is the most difficult part. All the confidence suddenly goes flying out and your stomach turns jelly like. What will make me look my best? Will this colour suit? Will I look fat? These are common fears that haunt every girl when she goes shopping for the prom dress. Well, choosing the prom dress, I agree, is difficult but it can be made a less daunting task with some help around.

To begin with, if you still haven’t decided on a dress design, we suggest you go for the vintage prom dress. The vintage prom dress has never gone out of fashion and will look stunning on anyone. The right usage of colours is very important when one opts for this particular dress design. Colours like yellow and pink take away the royal look of the vintage dresses. They make them look more like a baby’s outfit. Instead hard colours like black, shades of blue and silver make you look like a princess.

Vintage dress design

Comfort plays an important role in choosing a good design for the vintage dress. If you are a patron of the ‘less is more’ philosophy, then you could dry a short one piece dress, backless and sleeveless. Be sure that you can carry it off well. Nervousness just doesn’t help when wearing clothes like these. Walk with a confident stride and chin up. This is sure to make heads turn. Or you could opt for a more traditional long gown with the same backless design. This too is one trend which always looks good. Just make sure that the colours you choose are right. Black and white are all time bests.

Jewellery

Pay as much importance to jewellery as you would to the dress. Wrong kind of jewellery can make the best dress look drab. This is a common mistake which all make. So avoid it. Take your dress along when you go shopping for the jewellery. This will help you match the jewellery better with the dress.  As you have the correct shade of the dress with you, you can judge better as to what will go best with the vintage prom dress.

Footwear

Another very important aspect of the prom which can ruin your time if the selection is not done right is the foot wear. Comfort should be our priority here. You need to dance with this footwear and be able to stand perhaps for a long time. So avoid long heels, pencil heels and any heel which is more than two inches high. Try the footwear at the time of purchase and take strides wearing them. Stand for a couple of minutes to see how it is on the feet. These tests should give you a pretty fair idea on what to buy.

Make up

A tricky one, makeup is best when it is subtle. For the eyes, apply a line of mascara and some eye make up. Subtlety is the buzzword in every aspect of make up. Avoid glittery eye shadows. For the lip, first wear a lip balm and then apply a lip liner. This will seal the lip stick that you would apply next. Next wear the lip stick and apply a lip gloss to give those Angelina Jolie’s lip effect. With these tips in hand, you can rest assured that you will rock the party!
