The categories range from perfume being the most expensive to Eau De Toilette being the least expensive. The type of perfume or fragrance spray as it is called nowadays; that you choose is up to you. Just because perfume is the most expensive, you do not have to buy the most expensive or the most popular type of perfume. It may not be the fragrance that you like or it may not react well with your bodies natural chemicals to create a pleasant fragrance. Before you choose a perfume or a variety of perfumes, you should think of your personality and what type of person are you, determine if you are an adventurous outdoor person or a person that loves the ocean or a hopeless romantic that loves floral scents. Don’t be fooled by the pretty bottle and packing that the fragrance comes in, try a fragrance that calls you or that you are drawn to. Be careful because when you smell a scent on another person, just because it smells good on them, it will not mean it will smell good on you. You can kindly ask that person what kind of scent they are wearing, after you find out the name you can go to your local department or perfume store to try on that fragrance amongst others that you think will suit you.
A good tip to follow when trying on perfumes is try perfumes with the seasons. In the winter one should try oriental scents because of their strong musky scent that gives a feeling of warmth. In the summer and spring one should try a fruity or floral fragrance that give off sweet and subtle scents.
Perfume needs to breathe and open up, so when testing perfumes you should spray directly on the skin and wait about 30-60 seconds so the spray can absorb into your pores and you can get the full smell of the scent and how it reacts with your natural body chemicals. It is recommended that you should spray only 2-3 samples of different perfumes on your wrist to inhale the different aromas. If you cannot decide by 2 or 3, you should wait a few hours when the fragrance wears off and than go try others you like. You can also ask your sales agent if she has something that she can give you so you can neutralize the smell and try on many different fragrances until you find that perfect one. There are a lot of major department stores like Macy’s or JC Penney that has their own personal perfume counters, you can also look at local perfume retailers as well as a plethora of other stores to find your perfect perfume. It is not recommended buying perfume on the internet, unless you already tried and tested the product on your body and are certain that you will enjoy the smell. There are a lot of factors in buying a perfume, and it can be a timely process. There are some people that like to mix it up and show versatility by buying the different types of perfumes, that range from, floral, woodsy, green, oceanic, fruity and many other types of perfumes.
If buying perfume as a gift for someone, be very discreet about it. You want to make sure that you are buying the right type of scent for the person and you want that person to enjoy it. So it is wise to invite that person out perfume shopping with you and you should test out the perfumes together, and watch her reaction to which one she likes best and then surprise her in a few days with the perfume of her choice. |
