Gold Jewelry

It is estimated that gold has been discovered around 5,000 years ago.  Gold has been the first precious metals of our times that have had a major influence on society in many ways.
In the prehistoric days men would use gold in its pure form and was valued as part of religious practices and used in religious ceremonies.

Gold was such a commodity during the 1600’s throughout the 1800’s that numerous amounts of gold-diggers were present digging for gold.

Gold is always a nice added touch to anyone’s jewelry collection. One cannot go wrong with gold.  Gold is such a precious metal, that it does not fade or tarnish. Gold jewelry comes in many different forms. Gold in its purest form is too soft to produce into a solid product, therefore most of the time gold is mixed with other metals so it can obtain more durability.  There are different types of karats of gold with 24k being the highest form and 10k being the lowest form, and 10k is the lowest amount of gold you can have for it to be considered “gold” there is also 18k and 14k gold. Most of the time this type of Gold jewelry is mixed with other precious metals to create a nice gold piece. There are also gold plated jewelry items, which gold is dipped on the less expensive metal.  These gold plated items seem to be more affordable; however the gold may tend to fade if proper care is not given to the item or if it is exposed to too much sunlight.

Gold jewelry is always an exquisite gift to give, since it has been around way before man kind.  Gold is a precious metal that many people cherish for a lifetime.  It can come in the form of necklaces, bracelets, watches, trinkets, anklets, charms and whole lot more. There are different types of gold such as yellow gold or white gold.

White Gold is usually mixed with nickel to create a white or gray color to the jewelry piece. One must be careful when using white gold, because it may cause an allergic reaction

Rose & Pink Gold – Copper is added to gold to create a beautiful pink and rose effect on the gold.

Palladium- is another type of metal that can be used to create white gold. It is a little more costly than nickel. However it seems to cause less allergic reactions than nickel would.
Green Gold- some people love green so much that they want a shade of green in their gold.
To create this effect silver can be added to gold.

Gold jewelry can be given as a gift for many occasions, such as birthdays, communions, prom, and wedding anniversary.  There are many different types of Gold jewelry items that one can purchase. When deciding to buy gold.  You should consider what type of gold works best for you, what type of karat you would prefer.  Are you most likely to break out?  What style of gold would you like, do you want matching pieces.  Gold jewelry has been around for centuries and it has proven that it has staying power. Gold is one style of jewelry that will never go out of fashion. The great thing about Gold jewelry is that it can go with basically anything in your wardrobe.

So the next time you go to the jewelry store, stop by the Gold jewelry section and look at the array of  white, yellow, green, and rose colored gold. There is a large enough selection that I guarantee you will not leave the store empty handed.
